The body is airtight and equipped with an air filling valve. The body has a wall which is rigid at least lumbar and is expandable at least circumferentially. The rigid portions are out-arched and the less rigid portions are inward-arched to be outward-arched after expansion, as are the rigid portions.
With a device according to the present invention it is possible to greatly rationalize the handling of both the sleeves and the finished paper rolls and it is extremely easy to handle the cohesive body in connection with the conversion of the rolls at the place of use. The present invention thus further provides a device which virtually completely eliminates the need for handling the sleeves with and without paperboard separately. It is only with the end user that the body according to the present device needs to be handled together with the empty sleeves.
The invention will be described in more detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings. Fig. 1 schematically shows a perspective view of a number of sleeves on an embodiment of a device according to the present invention.
Fig. 2 schematically shows a similar perspective view of the device shown in Fig. 1 outside the sleeves.
The device shown in Figs. 1 and 2 according to an embodiment of a device according to the present invention comprising 2 and 3, comprises three short sleeves 1, on which paper webs are to be wound, which is common in connection with handling. of, for example, envelope paper webs. The sleeves 1, 2 and 3 are placed on a body 4, which is inserted into the sleeves 1, 2 and 3 and has a circular cylindrical shape. The body 4 shall not be longer than the total length of the sleeves 1, 2 and 3. The body 4 shall have a length which corresponds mainly to 2 and 3. 2 and 3 are equal to the total length of the sleeves 1. the number of sleeves 1, of course, arbitrary. It is common to handle 3-4 sleeves on one and the same body 4. The body 4 is made to be expandable for pressing against the inside of the sleeves 1, 2 and 3. In the embodiment shown, the body 4 is made of an expandable material, eg plastic or rubber. Furthermore, the body 4 is cylindrical and closed at the ends to be airtight.
At one end, the body has an air filling valve 5 for supplying air therein and thus expansion of the body 4 towards the inside of the sleeves 1, 2 and 3.
Fig. 2 illustrates in particular that the body has at least longitudinally rigid portions 6 and intermediate less rigid portions 7, the rigid portions 6 mainly facilitating the insertion of the body 4 into the sleeves 1, 2 and 3. The rigid portions 6 are outwardly curved and the the less rigid portions 7 are inwardly curved until the body 4 is filled with air or some other suitable medium.
It is relatively easy to place a number, for example 5 sockets 1, 2 and 3 on a substrate and to slide a non-expanded body 4 into them. After expansion of the body 4, all the sleeves 1, 2 and 3 are handled as a unit in a very simple manner because they are held together by the body 4. The package of sleeves 1, 2 and 3 and the inserted and expanded body 4 can be placed in a paper roll machine 2 and 2 and 3 or 2 and 3 can then be co-packed and transskin for winding paper webs on the sleeves 1, 3. The package with insert body 4 and sleeves 1, paper rolls 1, is ported to a point of use for converting the paper rolls to the final product.

The body 4 is buildable in many different ways. A hose of a suitable material, for example rubber, and with a suitable length and diameter, which should be slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the sleeves 1, 2 and 3, may be provided with outer and / or inner stiffeners substantially longitudinally, the ends are closed with an air seal and at least one end is provided with an air filling valve 5.
The body 4 can also be made in a PET bottle-like manner, the mouth of which is closed in an airtight manner and provided with an air filling valve and the wall is sufficiently expandable to be pressed against the inside of the sleeves by air filling. It is important to emphasize that the number of sleeves on an expandable body is of course arbitrary and the invention is of course not limited to the number of sleeves specified in the previous description and shown in the drawings.

1. Device for handling a number of sleeves, preferably cardboard sleeves, before, during and after winding each paper web on them, characterized in that a body with a length substantially corresponding to the total length or width of the sleeves is inserted into the sleeves and is expandable for pressing the jacket or wall of the body completely or partially against the inside of the sleeves and then for holding the sleeves together before and during the winding up of the paper webs on the sleeves and then the paper rolls produced.
